You first have to remove the harness with the round connector on the left side of the instrument cluster. Then reach on the right side of the instrument cluster with your right hand and you should be able to unscrew the brass fitting. A small hand helps!!!

How were you able to get access to the speedometer brass fitting behind the cluster? I unhooked the speedo cable from the gold-ish bracket near the brake pedal for slack, and the cluster still won't come out far enough for me to fit my hands behind it. Your vids are great, btw.

In my 1994 E320 I have a mechanical speedometer cable. This cable goes to the instrument cluster from the transmission. If your speedometer is not working then the mechanical cable is broken. If you have an electronic speedometer then there is a sensor mounted on the transmission that sends electrical signals to your speedometer, in which case the sensor is probably bad. Go to w124-zone website and they have the factory manual where it shows how to test the electronic speedometer.

My question is what is the electronic speedometer or cable. I'm not trading in it what to do? Thank you.
