Wow half a Million and Runs like new it probaly has a lot of rust fix that fast or it will get much worse I own a 250d w124 and it had a giant rust problem

I am building a w124 250td into a ”tractor” that I can drive when I am 15yo
I just bought a 95. non turbo wirh 196K, and the initial owner replaced wiring harness, vacuum pump, and water pump. The best thing is zero rust. I also have a 87 turbo wirh 384K. The rust is just starting to happen in small spots. Not stoplight racers off the line. Even so, I will never part with my two W124s. I love these cars!
I just bought a 95 with 196K. It had new wire harness put on when I bought it from the guy. I also have a 87 turbo diesel with 384K. I love both my W124s!

Great car - one of the best Mercedes ever produced. Since your car has a mechanical injection pump, it can help to depress and release the accelarator right before starting the engine and, in a cold start situations like this, gently accelerate the engine to a 1000 rpm so that it will come to a normal idle soon. Many miles to come...
Son of a bitch, with a very few turn overs, and kicked it right on! With over half a million km...my goodness, my family owns one of these, but these old benz never fail to surprise me, indeed... What a bunch of immortal stubborn legends!

This car looks like the turbo version with that respirator/vent on the front right mudguard.
BMW (Munich - Bavaria), Daimler Benz (Stuttgart - Baden-Württemberg). I think people from Baden-Württemberg state would be extremely exasperated over you calling them "Bavarian". These two states are usually very competitive among each other and people tend to hate one another.

glow plugs are out...no glow plug light
Good start! Nice car with the engine of my dreams :-) Love those 4valve diesels! Not Bavarian I might add 😇 And unless the US models differ from the German ones...you don't need to cycle the key. It will glow 60sec no matter what the glow light tells (when working the light only like recommends the needed time). Wishing you good times with your beauty!
it was different in the w123 with the early 220D 240D and 300D engines,they used the old loop configuratioun style of pre-heaters!

Nikola Begonja The OM606 came in 1993...and as far as I know the OM603 did not yet have the slits on the side in the non-turbo-version. Interesting though why a 1995 model would not have the E300 signature?
no, this is still the om603 12 valve diesel, the om606 came in the e300 models

later W124s have these vents fitted, even the naturally aspirated . The one featured here is the third - and last version of the great w124 chassis so it's all in good order here.
also the special edition (which I own) came with the headlamp wiper system which the vehicle in the video doesn't appear to have
I can't speak for other model years but I can absolutely guarantee that every 1995 w124 diesel has a vent on the passenger side fender because as previously stated it is the air intake for the engine. doesn't matter if it is special edition or not.
What do you mean by 'the turbo didn't come until 98'? The 300 turbodiesel (OM603.960) was released in 1987.
I might add his is a w124 special edition... last year of the w124 body style for Mercedes before switching to the w210 body. that said, it had very sharp lines and features only available in the 95 model year for diesels and, 1994 and 1995 for the e320 gasoline model
529K is barely run in for a 124 diesel :D

My E250 93 (over 1.5MKm...) has a problem with stucked and failed glowplugs. Another engine is the solution. Or another car... So sad.

+Guillaume Romain have you tried soaking the glow plugs with Plus Gas penetration oil for a week, then warming up the engine and trying to unseize them?
250D is super easy to maintenance, very reliable and w124 is one of the most comfortable rides you can ever have.
get a new head for your engine, block and pump are fine.

Of course... these things were never meant to go fast. We used to have a w123 years ago, and I kinda know what to expect from the w 124. Rust isn't much of a problem, since Bosnia is a rather warm country, especially the south, so I'm not worried much about it. 2000€ gets you a looked after 2.5l diesel with an AC. That is my aim. Thanks for the adice, much appreciated :D
Perfect cold start!
A quick diesel purge might actually smooth out the cold start idle. Mine had the same problem and the purge fixed it.
Runs a little rough,i had the sam problem with mine,it smoked alot when cold started and ran like crap for few secounds and than it was fine,turned out it was glowplugs,after i changed them car starts like and idles like a dream.
Are the glow plugs ok? The light did not come on.
I wish you all the best on this! I found out recently that all my plugs were seized. I'm very sad to see my w124 slowly go to being advertised as "spare". Truly breaks my heart. There's so much to come out of this car even after 22 years of superb and uneventful service.
w124250d1992 going to have to change the glow plugs soon, they have about 50k on them and are due!
German Panzer 💪 i have an 82 300D and starts well too. Those cars only get stronger and stronger.
